Let me just start by saying I LOVE this trend. It is such an easy way to spice up an outfit, especially on the cheap. If you can’t afford some Betsey Johnson of your own, then at least you can mimic the runway looks with some leopard print tights! It also shows just how many variations there are. If you are more conservative then maybe the subtle polkadot (Temperley London) would work for you – whereas someone more daring might try the colorful and louder D&G. Either way, your outfit is going to stand out with this one detail making it more unique.
I am totally coveting the ombre Issey Miyake, the D&G, and the Agatha Ruiz de la Prada!
Now here’s a trend I just don’t get, despite the fact that its all over the Fall 2011 Runways and being attempted by many different designers. I just can’t fathom most women wanting to look like they are wearing their grandfather’s coat which is 5 sizes too big. The proportions seem really unflattering (making even tall skinny models look boxy – I wonder what that would do for us real-sized women!) That said I think when its done with a more cinched waist it is an interesting way to emphasize a very unusual silhouette. Certainly not for everyone… I wonder if we’ll actually see this pop up on any celebrities?
This trend also popped up at Louis Vuitton Fall 2011.
